Lee Roy Selmon's history combines the virtues of family football scholarship with community service. The first is his familial. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. They raised nine children on an Eufala farm. He played football with his three brothers in Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. The year 1973 was the first time Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starters for one year. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi award as the nation's best lineman. During his three years as Oklahoma's starting quarterback, the Sooners went 32-1-1 and won two national titles. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975, and was designated a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon received his bachelor's diploma in education. Fourth-year service in college Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. Following college, he relocated in Tampa and played for nine years for Tampa's Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro for three occasions. After that, he began his professional career. He began his career in 1988. worked as an Account Relations Officer for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was not a surprise when In 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top 10 young stars across the nation. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and was a tall of 6'2 inches. While he was in for college, he was the head coach of the team of 1975. In 1993, he became the associate director of Athletics at University of South Florida. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame recognized the player on the 28th of October, 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
